I’ve been in this exact situation. I was a lone car in the lane at a set of lights. Every other lane was full. Then I heard screaming sirens coming up behind me. I checked my mirrors and saw several police cars, lights flashing, flying towards the intersection from behind me. All the green light traffic stopped, so I looked to make sure the intersection was clear, and I jumped on the gas and shot across to the other side and pulled over. The cops in the lead car waved “thanks” as they sped by.

EDIT: Getting many people commenting that you stay put and let the cops do the rest, which is true and I agree, but one thing I failed to mention (yeah, my fault) was there was a central median on that road so the cop cars COULDN’T get to the other side which is why I drove through the intersection to let them through.
