My landlord has told me & my family that we need to move out before the end of the summer so that he can renovate the apartment. Our lease has expired. What rights do I have? How should I proceed?

If you’re in the US, you have the right to move out before the date your landlord gave you. So you’d best get to work finding somewhere to move.

You are a month-to-month tenant because your lease is expired. He doesn’t need to even give you a reason to terminate your tenancy. He just has to give you whatever notice your state requires (it’s only 30 days where I live).
