My landlord died less than a week ago. She was 90 with no family except for an estranged adopted daughter. What should I expect to happen? What do I need to know to protect myself in our lease agreement. How should I prepare?

Why don’t you offer to buy it as for sale by owner? Chances are, the estranged daughter won’t want the property. It’s a perfect opportunity for you to make an offer, keep the home and YOU, can then put renters in it to make the mortgage payments. Maybe you can quietly pay for someone on Fiverr to research whether home has liens on it, or if it’s in pre-foreclosure. Knowing this can help you figure out if you can realistically make a pitch to buy it. Another pitch, research residential assisted living options. Buy it and turn it into a RAL, also a benefit to you. Good luck
