When I was about 30, my father and I went overseas. We shared a room to keep expenses down. Neither of us ever behaved in an inappropriate manner. Yes, I’ve held my dad’s hand, grabbed his arm, and hugged. I showered him shortly before he passed away. He was so concerned for me, I told him, ‘It’s OK, dad, I am a nursing student and you’re my patient at the moment’.

Our society is really sick. You know whether your relationship with your dad is healthy or not. My dad was a beautiful gentleman, who gave me so much that men can’t match up to him. He taught me honesty, respect and dignity, and trust.

Don’t let society tell you that you need to stop expressing affection.
