Magificent concept which comes from love and respectIn the Himba Mountains in Namibia, South Africa, a child’s birth date is not determined at the time of his birth or conceiving, but much earlier: since the day the child is remembered in his mother’s head! When a woman decides to have a child, she lays down and rests under a tree. She listens until she hears the song of the child that wants to be born.

And after hearing this child’s song, she goes back to the man who will be the child’s father to teach him this song. When they love to physically receive the child, they sing the child’s song to invite them! When the mother is pregnant, she teaches midwives and elderly women in the village to sing to this child. When the child is born, the old women and people around him sing his song to welcome him. When the child grows up, the other villagers learn his song. When the child falls or gets hurt, there will always be someone to pick them up and sing them their song. When the child does something wonderful or successfully completes the rites, the villagers sing his song to honor him.In the tribe there is another occasion where the villagers sing for the child. If, at any point in his life, he commits a deviant crime or other outrageous social act, the individual is called to the middle of the village, and the people in the congregation form a circle around him, singing his song. The tribe recognizes that correcting asocial behavior is not done through punishment but through love and recalling identity. And when this old child is lying in his bed and ready to die, all the villagers know his song and sing it for the last time.
