What Do You Do when you notice a police officer following you for no reason?
I once had this happen as I was driving home. I looked in my mirror and they were there and every turn I took and looked back they were still there. At the time I lived in a house on a roundabout that also had a road going through the Center and to get on my drive you had to go mostly round and then back on yourself. I knew once I got here it would confirm whether I was being followed or not.
As I drove round and across the road running through the middle, they followed. As I went round back on myself they slowed and came to a complete stop in the middle of the road. I realised it looked like I was looping back and about to make a run for it. I wasn’t sure what to do to not escalate the situation so I just pulled on to my drive nice and slow and sat in the car thinking they would pull in behind to do the expected. I sat in my car they sat in the middle of the road, then after about 20–30 seconds they drove off. I assumed they ran my details and realised I was at my home address. I wondered why they had been following me and I later remembered that I’d had my plates stolen some months earlier. When I reported it then, they informed me criminals usually did this to use as false plates when committing other crimes with a similar looking vehicle. They did find my plates a few days after they were stolen so I’d completely forgotten about it.
