The 4th Psychological Operations-Airborne (PSYOP) released a spine-chilling recruitment video filled with unsettling cartoons and frightening rhetoric alluding to the usage of psychological warfare.

The 4th PSYOP, located in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, is one of the active military information support groups that conducts civil affairs and psychological operations in support of Unified Commanders.“We’re looking at soldiers who are adept at conducting research to understand target audiences,” he said.

The creepy, yet confusing recruitment video, which was first released in May, opens with a 1980s television that then flickers and shows the ghost from the 1930s cartoon “Swing You Sinners!” dancing. The video then turns dark, followed by shots of a forest, and then civilians and soldiers.

“We are everywhere,” the screen reads as the civilians and soldiers look straight into the camera.

The recruitment video then shows footage of World War II attacks, as well as soldiers preparing for battle. Then, a clip of a plane dropping pamphlets from the sky appears.

“There’s another force applied in combat that we generally don’t think of as a weapon of war. That weapons is words,” the narrator says.

“We are everywhere. Words are our weapon,” the voice continues.

The clip then concludes with a simple message that reads, “Join Psyop,” followed by a display of a QR code that directs viewers to the army’s website

According to Colonel Chris Stangle, commander of the 4th PSYOP, the group created the video in hopes of explaining what the secretive group did while also recruiting new members.

The U.S. Army’s 4th Psychological Operations Group is a unit within the Army’s broader Psychological Operations field, a specialized branch of the Special Operations Forces.

“We’re looking at soldiers who are adept at conducting research to understand target audiences,” he said.

“And use critical thinking to determine the best methods and arguments to influence and effectively communicate verbally and in writing using multimedia,” he added.
