My little brother (3) and I (nearly 5) were sexually abused by strangers when we were young children. When I told my mother, she slapped me across the face hard for “lying,” hard enough to leave a 2-week bruise. She confined me mostly to my room until it faded. I’m 65 now and can assure you it took a lot of counseling for me to forgive her.
Please be very, very sure your daughter is “making up stories about being abused” before you think about punishing her.
