“I am 3 weeks into postpartum and my post-op recovery. It felt important to share my postpartum body because this is the reality of pregnancy. Much of it is jarring instead of glamorous. I feel powerful, but not beautiful. Somehow I feel both strong and weak. I’m emotional from the hormonal nosedive. It makes me sad-smile to see this body that doesn’t feel like mine. I’m okay—honestly—and I know this is temporary and so worth it. Miss Iris wouldn’t let me put her down, but it made it more meaningful as I analyzed my stretch marks and loose skin that gave me these precious girls. Be above and beyond kind to your pregnant and postpartum friends. This is hard. We need you.”
