Police officers kneed a rapper’s head and stunned him repeatedly during arrest, he vomited while they kept going.
Middleburg, FL |
Dasaun Williams, 23
Williams, a local drill rapper who performs as “Greenlight,” had been the target of “Operation Red Light,” a months-long undercover investigation into dr*g and gang activity in the Jacksonville area. On November 5, 2025, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested him at a Middleburg gas station, accusing him of selling fent*nyl and meth*mphetam*ne to informants and linking him to the “Out East 1200” gang.
The arrest itself stayed quiet for months, until Williams’ girlfriend emailed local reporters in March with the subject line “We need help ASAP,” attaching body-worn camera footage that had already started circulating online. It shows officers wrestling Williams to the ground, delivering multiple knees to his head, firing a stun gun into his back repeatedly, and slapping his face while he lay pinned. At one point in the footage, Williams appears to vomit. Williams says an officer used a racial slur against him during the arrest.
His booking photo afterward matched what the video suggested: one eye swollen completely shut, deep bruising across the side of his face, a fresh gash above his eyebrow.
JSO’s initial response was that the footage was “under administrative review” and it couldn’t comment further. Weeks later, civil rights attorneys Ben Crump and Harry Daniels took Williams’ case, holding a press conference at Sanctuary of the Mount Calvary Church. Crump didn’t hold back: “We don’t need outlaws. What we need is law enforcement who respect the Constitution.” The attorneys argue the incident isn’t isolated, that it points to policy failures at JSO that let this kind of force happen in the first place.
Williams faces 27 felony counts tied to the dr*g investigation. The excessive force allegations against the officers are a separate, still-open question, and so far, only one of those two cases has moved forward.
He’s facing 27 felonies for what the video allegedly shows him doing before the cameras were on him, the officers are facing an “administrative review” for what the cameras actually caught. Does that split seem proportional to you?
SUMMARY:
Dasaun Williams is a 24-year-old Jacksonville man arrested in November 2025 during an undercover drug operation called Operation Red Light. Viral body camera footage obtained by his family and shared on social media depicts Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) officers striking him, placing multiple knees to his head, and repeatedly using a stun gun (Taser) on his back while he was pinned to the ground.
Williams’ civil rights attorneys, Ben Crump and Harry Daniels, argue that the force was excessive and unwarranted, noting that Williams appeared compliant and was not charged with resisting arrest. The attorneys, alongside Williams’ mother, have accused the JSO of a pattern of excessive force against Black individuals, leading to public outrage and demands for a full investigation into the incident. Williams currently faces 27 felony counts related to drug trafficking and firearms offenses.
