Dennis Anthony Walker, who is from Mendenhall, Mississippi, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for breaking into a Rankin County home and stealing a child’s piggy bank. Investigators linked him to the October 2023 burglary using surveillance footage, witness reports, and items left behind at the scene.

According to WLBT, Walker broke into a house on Clara Foote Road on October 13, 2023. The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call and found the home ransacked. A child’s piggy bank was stolen, and there were clear signs of forced entry

Neighbors told deputies they saw a man running from the house into the woods. During their search, deputies found a pair of red flip-flops near the scene. They also discovered a vehicle hidden in the woods next to the home. A check with dispatch confirmed the car was registered to Dennis Walker, and his driver’s license was inside.

When the homeowner returned, she showed deputies security footage from inside the home. The video showed a man walking through the house — wearing red flip flops. Deputies matched the person in the footage to Walker’s ID.

Based on the evidence, investigators issued a warrant for Walker’s arrest. With help from Simpson County deputies, he was later found and taken into custody. During questioning, he admitted to the break-in.
