Meet The Woman Behind The First Black-Owned Prepaid Carrier Storefront

Chaymeriyia Moncrief was just 24-years-old when she founded her Tesix Wireless tech company that’s now valued at more than $5 million.

Tesix Wireless was launched after Moncrief had a bad experience with a cell phone company.

“You go in and they say your phone bill is going to be $98, but you are getting a $150 or $200 bill. I think the final straw for me was a $235 bill, and that is when I said I want my own company,” Moncrief told WSFA

She launched the company in 2018 and in the first year,  the company generated more than $1.5 million.

“Everything is included in the bill. When you pick the $25 plan that is what you pay. When you pick the $45 plan that is what you pay every month, no fees. Everything is transparent and straight forward something you aren’t getting with the others,” Moncrief said.

Since its launch, the company is hitting significant milestones, including reserving their NYSE stock ticker, putting their carrier-branded smartphones in production, and the recent, the company has become the first African-American MVNO-owned storefront.

“Our ultimate goal is to eliminate everything millennials hate about their phone carrier,” a statement on the website reads. “Tesix offers ultimate plan features and pay-as-you see plans.”

The average mobile plan with 10GB of data is $45/mo. With Tesix, the company offers extended data plans, excellent coverage, and more features starting at just $18 per month with zero commitment.
