Levi Alexander, Sr. 1856-1939. Levi Alexander was reared in Virginia and there as a young man learned the carpenter trade. In 1885 he located at Ocala, where he established himself as a contractor and builder. He built some of the finest residences as well as the Mt. Zion AME Church and Howard Academy.
