This application uses the SIMD class from the Intel® Accelerated Parallel Processing Library to detect whether the processor on which it is running supports SIMD instructions and to identify which SIMD instruction set is supported. It then allows the user to perform SIMD accelerated computations.
How to use this tool
First you must extract the ZIP archive of the SIMD Detector to a directory of your choice. The ZIP archive of the SIMD Detector contains a directory named util with the four following subdirectories:
Assume you extracted the SIMD Detector in the directory Desktop. Then, to start using this application, you should go to the directory and run the.exe file from there.
A GUI window appears (figure 1). In that window, you can select the option “This computer does not support SIMD instructions” to choose to run the application as is or you can choose the option “Re-run this application on a computer with SIMD instructions”. You should be careful with the first option, since it will disable this application from running on computers that do not support the SIMD instructions.

The application runs and detects SIMD instructions on the CPU. If it detects SIMD instructions, it should identify whether the instruction set available is SSE2, SSE4.1 or SSE4.2. If no SIMD instruction set is available, it gives a message “No SIMD instructions available”. The SIMD Detector should also identify the processor type.
You can optionally configure the application by providing three different input text files:
