Technology Will Be Key to Mobilizing the Black Vote in 2018

By Roger Caldwell

As a child growing up in the 1950’s and 60’s, I don’t understand millennia’s’ fixation on texting, and their spending hours on other social media platforms. I am engaged with the internet, and I spend limited time on Facebook, but I am somewhat lost when trying to understand all the other platforms and new technologies.

“The internet is the largest community in history – as big as the global population in 1960’s. It crosses every border and culture. And enough people are connected that the internet has become a planetary infrastructure for communication and collaboration,” says Dex Torricke-Barton – writer at the Medium.

Why Does Main Street Media Refuse to Talk About Black America?

By Roger Caldwell

“This is the press, an irresponsible press. It will make the criminal look like he’s a victim and make the victim look like he’s the criminal. If you aren’t careful, the newspaper will have you hating the people who are oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing,” says Malcolm X.

The majority of newsrooms in America are run by Whites, and it is no surprise that only certain kinds of Black stories are being published. Most White people don’t understand that implicit racial bias is part of their DNA, and anything associated with Black skin is considered negative.

Dear Jeff Bezos, remember that charity begins at home

Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos asked for help giving away his billions. How about paying his workers a living wage?

Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos, soon to be the world’s richest man, needs our help spending his money.

Not on cars, houses, spaceships or overpriced grocery stores, mind you. Rather, on philanthropy.

Bezos hasn’t said precisely how much of his estimated $80bn net worth he plans to give away in the coming years. Unlike business titans such as Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and other members of the world’s 0.01 percent, who’ve declared their intention to give away the lion’s share of their vast wealth as part of “The Giving Pledge” project, Bezos has so far donated only a few tens of millions of dollars to charity.
