MARION COUNTY NAACP BRANCH ANNOUNCES NEW BRANCH LEADERSHIP

The Marion County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is excited to announce TiAnna Greene, as the new President of the Branch.

Last year, the new, national leadership of the NAACP challenged local units to re-imagine and to reawaken our commitment to advancing equality for all people by renewing our community

partnerships and bolstering our activities in the local community. The advancement of Ms. Greene to the office of President continues the plan of the members of this local unit to do just that.

A product of Florida’s strong educational institutions, Ms. Greene is a graduate of Vanguard High School, the University of Florida, and Bethune-Cookman University. Her plethora of educational tools will allow her to utilize her knowledge to help develop new programs and task forces to address inequities and the needs of the community. Ms. Greene’s more than twenty-years of experience in juvenile justice will lead to more engagement in addressing trends that are negatively impacting youth in this county. Further, her long track record of community involvement will help reestablish partnerships, recruit the next generation of civil rights leaders, and reengage community groups to collectively address the prevailing issues in our community.

We believe that Ms. Greene’s life-long support to the Association, as the Marion County Youth Council President in the early 90s, a Youth Advisor in the early 2000s, and the immediate Past Vice President of the Branch compounded with her impressive resume and community track record will lead this Branch to exciting, new heights in this community.

As we launch into a new era of civil rights activism, we encourage you to join us on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 7pm at the Holiday Inn located at 3600 SW 38th Avenue, Ocala, Florida for Jazz and Justice. This event sponsored by Blocker’s Enterprise will help raise funds to support Back-to-School/Stay-in-School initiatives, programs that target the School-to-Prison-Pipeline, Disaster Recovery Assistance, and Voter education, registration, and mobilization. Tickets are $40.00.
